Today I acknowledge and honour the indigenous peoples of the land that is now known to many as Canada. I acknowledge the struggles and harm that colonialism has and continues to have on these communities and on the land.
I also acknowledge my own deep spiritual connection to this land, particularly Ontario. Despite my own ancestral history, and in recognition of it, this land is also where I come from and very much a part of me. I have felt grief and also celebration for the land where I too come from.
Reconciliation is possible. “If we consider how we can all contribute to the harmony between place and peoples then we can truly say we love where we live.” (wise words taken from a friend’s facebook status).
Sending love to the land,
